What is yoga?

Yoga is a form of exercise that combines body movements, stretching, breathing exercises, and meditation to improve your balance, muscle strength, and sense of well-being.

APMI Wellness Center offers many types of therapies that support your overall health, including private yoga therapy and Yin yoga.

What are the benefits of yoga?

From your physical health to your mental health, yoga offers many benefits. At APMI Wellness Center, the team views yoga as a form of self-care. It’s a gift you give to yourself to improve your health.

Some of the benefits of yoga include:

Improved strength and flexibility

Yoga involves various body movements that require stretching and holding. With this physical practice of yoga, your muscles get stronger and more flexible.

Better balance

As noted, yoga includes physical movement, breathing exercises, and meditation. These three elements help restore balance to your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.

Reduced stress

For many people, stress is unavoidable. Ongoing stress increases your risk of chronic illness and exacerbates painful conditions. Yoga is a stress management tool that may help you regain control over your stress and improve your health.

Better mental and physical health

Yoga can benefit many chronic health conditions that affect your mental and physical health. These include depression, anxiety, neck and back pain, menopause symptoms, and insomnia.

What can I expect during my yoga therapy?

The yoga therapist at APMI Wellness Center offers private yoga therapy sessions. During your sessions, the therapist works one on one with you, developing a program that addresses your health needs and suits your fitness level.

During your private yoga therapy, the therapist uses breathing and relaxation techniques and modified movements to address your personal goals and needs.

You can enjoy your private yoga therapy at APMI Wellness Center by yourself or in a small group of no more than three participants.

What is Yin yoga?

There are many forms of yoga therapy. Yin yoga involves deep meditation and muscle movement. The goal of Yin yoga is to access your deeper tissue — connective tissue and fascia — to improve posture as well as joint flexibility and movement.

Yin yoga primarily focuses on your spine, hips, and sacrum and is a more intimate form of yoga therapy. In addition to your physical wellness, Yin yoga helps you tap into your feelings, sensations, and emotions.

To schedule your yoga therapy, call APMI Wellness Center or book an appointment online today.
